Data Scientist

Reporting to our Chief Commercial Officer, you will be responsible for turning mounds of data into business insights to drive strategic company direction and decisions.  As the Blue Jeans Data Czar, you will bring together your passion for analytically-based decisions, your creativity and your intuitive business acumen to be a key strategic contributor to our success.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver synthesized research findings and statistical analysis that incorporate multiple business operational databases and provide tangible customer and market insight
  • Using analytics and data to decipher customer behavior; develop and implement programs that support strategic business goals.  This would include market opportunity assessment, product optimization, segmentation, pricing, feature prioritization, customer satisfaction, and all other facets of product/service development
  • As the data champion in Blue Jeans, work collaboratively across all teams to drive product innovation, accelerate strategic business decisions, improve customer satisfaction and enhance company productivity/efficiency
     

Qualifications

  • Ability to analyze research data and translate raw information into actionable business insights 
  • Excellent quantitative skills with experience in survey design, sampling, and data analysis with large data sets
  • Expertise with statistical data analysis (e.g. regression, factor analysis, and multivariate analysis) in either academic coursework or work experience. Experience using statistical tools such as SPSS, SAS or Matlab a plus
  • Very comfortable using Excel for modeling and analysis
  • Significant experience in analyzing customer database data. SQL skills a plus.  Some experience in business forecasting based on primary and syndicated data
  • 3+ years of B2B/B2C data analysis experience (academic or work)
  • Experience presenting data from both qualitative and quantitative primary research studies
  • Exceptional problem solving abilities and experience synthesizing disparate and sometimes contradictory data.
  • BA or BS in market research, marketing, psychology, statistics, math, computer science, physics or other related field. MS or Ph.D. degree preferred.
  • Proven history of self-direction, creativity, extremely well organized and capable of handling multiple mission-critical projects simultaneously and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills a must
  • Must be able to adapt to a fast changing environment
